Welcome to The Agency for Jewish Learning
Pittsburgh’s Central Resource for Lifelong Jewish Learning

VISION:

Jewish learning is the foundation of vibrant Jewish living and a connection to Klal Yisrael, the Jewish people. AJL exists to create a community culture in Greater Pittsburgh that values lifelong Jewish learning as sacred and nurtures inspiring, meaningful and diverse Jewish learning experiences.

AJL’s mission is to build the community’s capacity to provide access to the highest quality Jewish learning experiences for the largest possible number of people.

AJL DoesThis By:

  • Advocating for formal, informal and experiential Jewish education in all its diverse settings
  • Fostering collaboration with and among synagogues, schools and organizations across the spectrum of Jewish ideologies
  • When uniquely positioned, directly providing classes and programs
  • Providing educational resources to educators and institutions
  • Assuring the highest level of expertise among educators and lay leaders in Jewish educational institutions
  • Working in close partnership with the United Jewish Federation as a catalyst for new initiatives and to identify and plan for meeting community needs
